kumbaya: Our Live Album Together | Mr. Poetivist

With Mr. Poetivist

For this session, we turn to kumbaya - the debut album from Ghanaian poet and performer Mr. Poetivist. A body of work born from the loss of a brother figure to suicide. The poems transform mourning into meaning, tracing the many forms of loss from the simplest to the most intricate. Each stanza bears witness to the fragile space between life and grief, between what we hold and what we must let go.

Developed between Ghana and The Rose Hill (UK) during a residency, and produced in collaboration with Abraham Moughrabi, whose credits include Latin-Grammy winning artist Buika, kumbaya fuses theatrical poetry with cinematic soundscapes—moving from stark a capellas to lush orchestral synths and evocative field recordings.

In kumbaya, Mr. Poetivist turns silence into language and remembrance into resistance, crafting an art that listens as deeply as it speaks and as a pilgrimage through love, loss, and the art of holding on.
