VISÁL KIM is a Berlin-based DJ, photographer, and cultural producer with roots in Cambodia and a background shaped by movement between Central America and Germany. His sound blends deconstructed club, house, global bass, percussive electronics, and voguing beats, influenced by the in-between spaces where club culture thrives. He first entered music through his club photography, which immersed him in the underground scene. Over time, he became an active member of the German ballroom community where his engagement deepened beyond the dance floor.
He has DJ’d and curated festival lineups, supporting youth projects that center Queer and Black expression. Rooted in Hanover’s club scene, he became a presence through community-led parties and genre-fluid sets. Beyond the dancefloor, he shares his practice through youth DJ workshops, creating access to sound and creative tools for young QTPOC and migrant communities.
His cultural work extends into the visual arts, with mixed media pieces that explore afrofuturism, queerness, and black masculinity through a diasporic lens. His visual work has been featured in institutions such as Berlin’s Schwules Museum, further deepening his engagement with questions of identity, archive, and futurity. Now based in Berlin, he continues to explore the intersections of sound, politics, and community care. His sets are urgent and intentional, built on rhythm, rupture, and a refusal to be boxed in. Appearances include Südpol, Uebel & Gefährlich, Fuchsbau Festival, and other spaces pushing experimental and socially engaged club culture.
