Maryam Rahmani

Maryam Rahmani is an Iranian born Santur player who has been living in Adelaide since 2019. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Traditional Music from Tehran University. Maryam’s musical journey began when she was 12 years old, inspired by the rich cultural heritage and captivating allure of Persian instruments and the poetic side of the traditional music. Her passion for music was ignited during the study and that’s when she started to play Kamancheh which is another bowed string instrument form Iran and also dutar(Persian word for “two strings”), a traditional lute-like instrument known for its resonant sound. Maryam strives to preserve and share its tradition and culture through her artistry and since she moved to Adelaide she had this chance to play with different musicians in different genre and to create shared experience through the universal language of music.
